Born Sept. 30, 1997, Max Verstappen is the reigning 2021 Driver's Champion. Verstappen races for RedBull under a Dutch licence. He began racing in Formula 1 with Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2015 and has been driving for RedBull since 2016. His nickname is "Super Max".

Born Sept. 1, 1994, Carlos Sainz races for Scuderia Ferrari under a Spanish licence. Sainz began racing in Formula 1 with Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2015. In 2019 he moved to McLaren and in 2021 he signed with Scuderia Ferrari until 2024.
His nickname is "Smooth Operator".

Born Jan. 26, 1990, Sergio Perez races for RedBull under a Mexican licence. He began his Formula 1 career in 2011 with Sauber and has subsequently raced for McLaren (2013-14), Force India (2014-18), Racing Point (2019-20), and RedBull (2021-present).
His nickname is "Checo".

Born Jan. 7, 1985, Sir Lewis Hamilton races for Mercedes under a British Licence. He is the most decorated Formula 1 driver with 7 Driver's Championships titles. Hamilton began his Formula 1 career with McLaren in 2007. He raced with McLaren from 2007-2012 before moving to Mercedes (2013-present).
Hist nickname is "the Goat".

Born Oct. 16, 1997, Charles Leclerc races for Scuderia Ferrari under a Monegasque licence. Leclerc joined Formula 1 in 2018, racing for Sauber. In 2019, he signed with Ferrari and is under contract until 2024.
His nickname is "Lord Perceval".

Born Feb. 18, 1998, George Russell races for Mercedes under a British Licence. Russell began racing in Formula 1 for Williams in 2019. In 2022 Russell joined Mercedes to race alongside fellow Brit, Lewis Hamilton, giving the team the nickname "Britcedes".
His nickname is "Mr. Consistency".

Born Nov. 13, 1999, Lando Norris races for McLaren under a British Licence. Norris made his Formula 1 debut in 2019 with McLaren. He is under contract with McLaren until 2025.
His nickname is "Last Lap Lando".

Born Feb. 7, 1996, Pierre Gasly races for Alpine under a French licence. Gasly began racing in Formula 1 in 2017 with Scuderia Toro Rosso. He raced for RedBull (2019), before moving back toToro Rosso (now AlphaTauri) part way through the 2019 season until 2022.
His nickname is "Pedro Gaseoso".

Born April 6, 2001, Oscar Piastri races for McLaren under an Australian Licence. Piastri is the youngest driver on the grid. Piastri is the 2020 FIA Formula 3 champion and 2021 FIA Formula 2 champion. Prior to this season, Piastri was the Test & Reserve driver for Alpine.

Born Aug. 28, 1989, Valtteri Bottas races for Alfa Romeo under a Finnish licence. Bottas began his Formula 1 career in 2013 with Williams. He raced with Williams from 2013-2016 before joining Mercedes (2017-2021). Bottas joined Alfa Romeo for the 2022 season.
Bottas is known for showing his behind on social media coining the nickname "BottASS or Buttass".

Born Sept. 17, 1996, Esteban Ocon races for Alpine under a French licence. Ocon began racing in Formula 1 with Manor Racing in 2016. He also raced for Force India (2017-19) and Renault (Alpine) (2020-present).
His nickname is "Estie bestie".

Born May 30, 1999, Zhou Guyanu races for Alfa Romeo under a Chinese licence. Zhou made his Formula 1 debut in 2022 with Alfa Romeo making this his rookie year. He is the first Chinese driver to compete in Formula 1.

Born Jul. 29, 1981, Fernando Alonso races for Aston Martin under a Spanish licence. Alonso is a two-time Driver's Champion. At 41 years old, Alonso is the oldest driver on the grid. Alonso made his Formula 1 debut in 2001 with Minardi. He has also raced for Renault (2002-06; 2008-09), McLaren (2007-08; 2015-19), Ferrari (2010-14) and Alpine (2021-2022).
His nickname is "Nando" and he is known for his infamous "El Plan".

Born August 19, 1987, Nico Hulkenberg races for Haas under a German licence. Hulkenberg made his F1 racing debut in 2010 with Williams. Hulkenberg drove for Force India in 2011-2012 and 2014-16, Sauber 2013, and Renault from 2017-2019. In 2020 and 2021, Hulkenberg was the reserve driver for Racing Point and Aston Martin. Hulkenberg's career best finish is 4th place.

Born Oct. 29, 1998, Lance Stroll races for Aston Martin under a Canadian Licence. Stroll joined Formula 1 in 2017 with Williams. He stayed with Williams for one year (2017-18) before moving to Racing Point (2019-20). He continues to drive for Racing Point under its new monicker Aston Martin (2021-present).

Born Oct. 5, 1992, Kevin Magnussen races for Haas under a Danish Licence. Magnussen joined Formula 1 in 2014 with McLaren. He has raced for McLaren (2014-15), Renault (2016), and Haas (2017-2020; 2022-present).

Born March 23, 1996, Alex Albon races for Williams under a Thai licence. Albon made his Formula 1 debut in 2019 with Scuderia Toro Rosso. He raced for RedBull from 2019-2020 before being demoted to test and reserve driver in 2021. In 2022, Albon signed a multi-year contract with Williams.
His nickname is "Albono".

Born December 31, 2000, Logan Sargeant races for Williams under an American licence. Sargeant came fourth in the 2022 Formula 2 season. Sargeant is the first American to compete in F1 since Alexander Rossi.

Born July 1, 1989, Daniel Ricciardo races for AlphaTauri under an Australian license. Ricciardo made his Formula 1 debut in 2011 with HRT. Daniel Ricciardo has previously raced for Toro Rosso (2012-13), Red Bull (2014-18), Renault (2019-20), and McLaren (2021-22). Ricciardo is an eight time Formula 1 race winner. His nickname is "The Honeybadger".

Born May 11, 2000, Yuki Tsunoda races for AlphaTauri under a Japanese licence. Tsunoda made his Formula 1 debut with AlphaTauri in 2021.
